Nick: "Ten bucks says he takes him to the right."
Nick says this when he sees his ally get lounge attacked by Jockey.

What does this mean?

I assumed people would know the context if they're the ones who played the game long enough to bother and go through L4D2 discussion thread that asks for help to comprehend a game quote. I was wrong, obviously.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

That's the part I don't get. Is he referring 'to the right' as in terms of right hand side, or what?

I would imagine it's the right hand side, not sure what else it would mean.

He's steering him into the path of righteousness and clean living.

I used to think he said "10 bucks say he takes another ride." And I kinda like it better thinking it as that.

But Nick says it as in he's betting the Jockey takes the victim somewhere off to the right from where he is facing.

From the wiki.
A lifetime of drifting from city to city, finding back-alley card games and trying to stay out of jail has taught Nick two valuable lessons: Don’t trust anyone, and look out for number one.
He’d come down to Savannah looking for some gullible fish on the riverboat gambling cruise circuit. Instead he found a city about to be engulfed by infection. Now he finds himself forced together with three complete strangers in a fragile alliance that goes against every instinct he lives by. But he’s going to have to learn to trust them if he wants to survive.

You two don't understand.

How does simply regarding "Nick's a gambler" could possibly explain the meanings behind the game quote I addressed?

It's like answer the question; "What does the quote 'Close shut the jaws of Oblivion' which was said by Uriel Septim mean?" as "Uriel Septim is an emperor." It doesn't fully explain what the quote means.
