How do you chat with other players in L4D2?

Y is default. If your playing versus it's u for team.

Go to options in the menu and see what the button is. You can have it freely or push to talk.

I recommend push to talk. Having a person on open mic is tough on the team. Cannot help if we can't hear our game over the open channel.
