How do you cut smoker tongue?

Im new to this game, and i saw someone cut my someker tongue.

Shoot it, slash it with a cutting melee weapon at the right time, or block the tongue with a physics object like a propane canister or oxygen tank.

You can't shoot a tongue off yourself, only teammates. But with perfect timing you can cut one off yourself with sharp bladed weapons. Chainsaws work well with this, provided you have enough time to rev it at them.

You can cut the tounge with a shotgun if you are very quick as it grabs ya, just aim down right in front of ya. The timing is a lil like doing it with melee :)

You can also throw a gas can/cola/gnome (stuff you can hold) at the right time, and it'll block it.
