It will turn off motion blur ingame, since high/very high shaders have the motion blur attached to it and you can't turn it off otherwise.
anyway, you know if reduce motion blur that will reduce motion sickness? i think played left 4 dead yesterday make me ill. i waked up today and after a while, i puked my whole dinner
And eh.. well, I am not too sure if people getting motion sickness from this is a common occurance, but the thing is, with motion blur enabled it will.. well become very blurry everytime you make a sharper/fast movement with your mouse. It is very distracting and has negative effects on how fast you'll be able to react, since motion blur basically holds your frames captive, almost as if you were playing with very low fps.
If you're prone to getting motion sickness from videogames (low fov/blurry effects), I recommend you turn motion blur off with the command that I posted in my initial comment.
You need to put that command into your L4D2 launch options. You can access the launch options via right clicking L4D2 in your library and clicking on properties and then launch options.
