For sound addons, you'll need to type in "snd_rebuildaudiocache" in your console. Just wait 10-15 minutes and then type "quit" in the console as well.

Hmm, then i'm not sure. Try asking in the modding discussion part. You might have a higher chance of getting a solution over there.

Sound mods in VPK format like that should work out of the box, without needing to use that command.
OP most likely didn't put any subfolder into it and has the audio file right in the root folder.
Another problem could be a missing txt file, in case he just put the VPK into his addons folder and it's missing the addoninfo txt file. It only auto-creates if you're uploading a VPK via the auth. tools.

1) Check your file paths. Make sure they're correct.
2) Check your sound file. If it doesn't match the original themonsterswithin.wav, it could cause the mod to not work. Make sure your file matches in frequency, probably 44100hz, number of channels, probably stereo, and maybe length. Make sure it's saved as a .wav file.

Use Half-life DJ to play any track at any time with 1 key-press....

Lmao, besides that not replacing the original sounds, HLDJ's current version is not only filled with viruses, but HLDJ as a whole is trash. Instead of that you could simply use a virtual audio cable and a plain soundboard. Not to mention HLDJ only works with source games and most servers have it disabled, while a virtual audio cable and soundboard will work on literally every game.

By root folder you mean the one where the original sounds are? In the left4dead2/sounds/tank/ folder I had both the original sound and the music I needed, but the music was not in any subfolder, it was just there, along with the original sound.
Should create a subfolder? How should that subfolder be named? And what about the txt file? Where exactly it should be?
