Adunata Guest Edition and much more

Nov 6

Adunata Guest Edition: much more than a demo

Adunata Guest Edition (free). Friends can join your table without owning the game. If you have a seat for them, they install the free edition and play. Players who own Adunata always join free.
Seat packs (DLC). Adunata Seats x2, x4 and x6 add seats for friends who don't own the game. You can combine them, up to 12.
Host a small table from the Guest Edition. Try hosting with one other player. Keep in mind that nothing from a Guest Edition table is saved.

New Features

PDF sheets. Open PDF character sheets in the viewer and add text annotations. The viewer remembers
its state.
Paper terrain. Vertical and horizontal terrain planes. Check their context menu: they can even shine a light.
Custom 3D miniatures. Feature parity with paper minis. They don't have to be created as "My Characters" minis. You can prepare them on the table and save them as generic minis.
Drag and drop. Drop OBJ and image files right onto the table to get ready-to-tweak 3D miniatures and terrain.
Configurable resource bars beyond HP. Bind custom miniature stats to up to 3 new overlay bars. Edit their values by clicking right on them.
Terrain VFX. A first version of fireflies, rain, fog and snow.
New terrain. Stone wall and stairs.
Grid scaling. Scale the size of the grid. If you play space games and need 16 miniatures in one square, you can now set the grid scale to 4 and the unit measurement to 0.25.
Alpha-blended grid. It should now be visible on both bright and dark maps. You might need to adjust its colour in your old scenes.
VSync option in the settings, for proper FPS control.
Gallery sorted alphabetically, and the character gallery is faster.

Improvements and fixes

Camera resets when you create a new scene.
Search now works in the My Characters, terrain presets and mini presets tabs of the Gallery.
Multiple paper minis selected as a client now move as expected.
Paper mini material is less glossy.
Maps now render at 4K with less compression.
Toasts messages stay on screen while the pointer is over them.
Several small fixes to the host panel and input fields, and a more consistent field design.

Suggestions

I really like the app, is clean and easy to use, I have two suggestions: 1,- is there a way to add a player window? specially for games that are face-to-face I don't play much online, so a windows for the players to watch would be handy without having to open a second session of Adunata I don't know how taxing resource-wise would be to have two sessions of the app running. 2.- In the measuring distances, would it be possible to add ranges labels like Close, Near , Far and out of range? this would be usef...

New drawing subtools and terrain vertical offset

Oct 20

New Features

Drawing Subtools

New drawing tools: Freehand, Straight Line, Rectangle, and Circle make drawing on your dungeon map faster and easier. Check their tooltips to discover modifier keys for grid snapping, repositioning, and more.
Improved eraser: The eraser now removes individual segments of a stroke instead of deleting the entire stroke. Check the tooltip to learn about its modifier keys.
Undo for clearing map strokes: The Clear Map Strokes operation can now be fully undone. No more stress if you accidentally clear your map!

Scaling Gizmo

Scaling terrain elements is now a breeze with the new gizmo, accessible from the terrain context menu.

Overhang Support and Elevated Terrain

Terrain elements can now be elevated off the ground, making it possible to create things like bridges and hanging chandeliers. Miniature movement has also been updated to support moving underneath overhanging terrain.

Gallery Improvements

Added miniature previews when editing the Gallery Default Stats.
Improved Gallery search.

Brightness Controls

Added Gamma and Gain settings for finer control over brightness.

New Miniatures

Candelabra
Candle holder
Candle plate
Chandelier
Fallen one (dead body)
Wall Torch
Wood bridge

Fixes

Improved camera panning: Looking straight down with the camera no longer makes panning unpredictable.
Map strokes synchronization: Clients joining a session can now see strokes already present on the host's map.
Mac duplicate shortcut: Fixed an issue where pressing [c]Cmd + D[/c] to duplicate an object also triggered camera movement on macOS.
Mac paste shortcut: Fixed an issue where [c]Cmd + V[/c] failed to paste content from the clipboard on macOS.

Free version for players?

Will the app have a free (guest) version for players so that only DM is required to buy it to run campaigns? I’m asking because it can be pretty hard to ask all your players to buy a new tool for tabletop - most still consider it a free hobby

Support for multiple systems?

I love the concept of this, especially if you can integrate Steam Workshop to allow custom assets and modding. I mostly play Star Wars TTRPGs and often they have unique symbols on otherwise traditional dices. Any chance you could add support for these special symbol dice somehow? If you are interested, my games of choice would be D6 SW, D20 SW (as well as Saga Edition), and obviously the latest one by FFG. I imagine each setup could be saved as a scene or template, so we can have multiple games running s...

Early Access Review

I have tested and purchased quite a few VTTs over the years and I gotta say that Adunata is one of the most unique out there, it is able to bring the feel of playing on a board with minis while being very intuitive and easy to learn, also, being able to combine 3D assets with 2D images is a huge plus, I don't have to throw away all the maps I've made for previous games on other VTTs, and I can even make custom characters with customized rolls and stats, which will allow me to easily run my TTRPG of choice. This is a very new product and it's in early access, but I'd say that right now, it is a fully functionable VTT that can be used to run a campaign with no issues.

The one thing that was holding it back was the lack of player seats, and now it has been implemented. I am currently running a campaign on another VTT, but I am 100% bringing my next campaign here. As someone who has run games on the most famous VTTs out there, from free to paid ones, this is easily one of the best, while being much easier to use than most. Huge props to the dev for listening to the community suggestions and implementing them so quickly.
