Regular or 8-bit version?
Which version of the game would you recommend to someone who only has time for one playthrough?

Thanks.

If you only have time for one playthrough, I'd say you should play the 8-bit version. It's the version with the most content.

I thought the 8 bit version was just a ported version to a rom?
Is it a different game?
It has more stuff?

It's the same game but since NES has such a smaller resolution all the rooms had to be redesigned to fit, which makes the gameplay a bit faster. But there's also new content yes, two new areas and two new music tracks.

Hello!

According to our Discord it should work on both Everdrive N8 and Everdrive N8 Pro, just make sure it's updated.

Just grabbed the NES version myself. Going to look for my NES Mini and install it on that once I remember how everything goes (don't even have the same PC as when I last used it, need to reinstall stuff).

I'm playing both versions and I would say the PC version is the best choice. The NES version sure is more fast to play, since the rooms are in 4:3 aspect. But the Steam version has better graphics, the controls feel a little more responsible, it have a more reliable 'double jump' technique with a air green block (which I used a lot to access areas more early) and you have more options to customize the acessibility mode. :Alwa_Happy:

The Steam version should be 1.6.1.56 and the 8-Bit Edition should be 1514 on Steam and 1519 on Evercade. (They're identical when it comes to gameplay). Hope this helps!

There's a 1519 version? I have to say that this is the first time I hear of the Evercade. If they're identical, why not call the Steam 8-Bit version 1519 as well? Why not update the Steam version to 1519? Why not call the Evercade version 1514? What does the 1519 version have that the 1514 one doesn't? Also, is there a NES rom in the Evercade version or is the rom found in that version only compatible with the Evercade?

My guess is that 1519 is really 1514, but made to be compatible with the Evercade, and that the game version was given the 1519 number to signify that.

The 1514 and 1519 numbers are just what current 'commit' we're at in our repository, meaning that ever time we make a small change we save that into the project and the number goes up by one. The Evercade only has a small change on the bootup and it shows the Evercade logo and if we recall right, A becomes B and vice versa. Everything else is identical. The Evercade has a NES rom so and we're not sure if it can be extracted, most likely it can be somehow.

There are no plans to update the Steam version to the Evercade version, due to logical reason of the splash screen. Both versions have identical gameplay.

Aaah got ya. Thank you so much for the information. :)

Are there plans to bring the 8-Bit Edition over to Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch as DLC like the Steam and GoG versions?

There are no plans right now but we would definitely want to have the 8-Bit Edition on console some time in the future. Once we finish the current game we're working on (A Void Hope) there might be time for something like that! :)

Are there any plans for translating the 8-Bit Edition into the languages available in the PC version?
