Grazed - Incremental Arcade

The closer you get, the stronger you get. Grazed is an incremental arcade game where every kill means getting within range of death. Push your kill combo high enough to ignite absurd powers and chase the highest score. Every run earns upgrades, so you always come back deadlier.

The Last Major Update Before Release

Nov 3

Hey everyone! Over 200 of you are already on the demo leaderboard. Thank you so much for playing!

I've been working hard on Grazed, and this is the last major update before release. A few of these changes only apply to the full version, and I've marked those below.

New Upgrades

Guillotine (full version): a new chain of 4 upgrades. Every time you enter a new zone, a blade drops across the whole screen.
Deep Cut: more damage for each zone you reach in a run.
Feed the Blades (full version): kills keep Overcharged Blades going, up to its full duration.
Head Start (full version): start each run deeper, with Overcharged Blades already active.
Shieldbreaker (full version): some of your damage goes through an enemy's shield as it breaks.

Balance

Price inflation: upgrades now get more expensive as you buy more. You could buy a bit too much at once before, and I want every choice to matter.
Supernova: your swords no longer orbit you the whole time. It looked cool, but you couldn't really aim, and aiming is the whole game! Now Supernova makes the swords thicker.
Improved how enemy HP scales.
Most demo upgrades with 5 ranks now have 3, because those extra ranks were a bit boring.
Combo Jumpstart II is now in the demo.
The Needle Glyph is easier to get.
Lateral Thrust moved to the movement branch, where it belongs.

Interface

Leaderboard pages: you can finally look beyond the top 10.
Overcharged Blades now has a timer bar, so it won't run out on you by surprise.
Upgrades now show their current and max level as pips.
The UI now reacts when you hover over things.

Visuals

The Axe has a better swing.
Iaijutsu looks less pixelated.

See you on November 12!

Grazed launches on November 12. If you haven't yet, please wishlist it so you don't miss the release. It really helps!

The Demo Just Got Better: Chain Reactions, Cheaper Upgrades & More

Oct 20

Demo Update is live!

Thanks to everyone playing during Steam Next Fest! Your feedback shaped this update.

Mods

New Mods folder button in Settings -> Skin: a simple click opens the folder where your custom skins live, with a README explaining everything.

Glyphs

Flow Glyph revamped: enemies killed by a Static Burst now set off a Static Burst of their own, for satisfying chain reactions across the screen.
New Glyph: Rekindle (full game): lost Hyper Mode and Supernova come back if your combo keeps climbing. Each comeback takes twice as long.

Balance

Early enemies are slower, giving your first runs more time to find your rhythm.
Many early upgrades are cheaper: Combo Window, Density Field, Density Field II and Escort.
Several other upgrades have been rebalanced for a smoother climb to the late game.

Quality of Life

Clicking an upgrade or glyph no longer leaves it highlighted: the card and its details now follow your mouse and close as soon as you move away.

Next Fest is LIVE! Mod support and an even juicier demo!

Oct 19

Grazed is in Steam Next Fest! 🎉

Next Fest is live, and the Grazed demo is free to play right now.

Grazed is a fast-paced arcade roguelite packed with juice. Every run starts slow, then your combo snowballs: hundreds of slices, explosions, axes, lightning and black holes, until the whole screen is pure chaos. Die, upgrade, and come back stronger.

What's new in the demo

🎨 New: Skin Mods

You can now mod Grazed! Swap the look of the enemies, and even the player, with your own images. Pick a skin in Settings → Skin.
Added a built-in example skin, “Wireframe”. Use it as a template: copy the folder, rename it, swap in your own images. You’ll find it in the Mods folder next to the game (Steam → right-click Grazed → Manage → Browse local files), with a README explaining everything.

⚔️ Gameplay & Balance

Axe Cleave is much stronger from the moment you unlock it. Bigger reach, a slower and heavier swing, and 2 rotations by default.
Phoenix now saves you only once per run, but you keep your combo. No more surviving just to be left too weak to continue.
Glyphs now take effect from the run after you earn them, instead of switching on mid-run.
Bombs can no longer spawn back to back. At least 3 other enemies now spawn between two bombs.
Improved the Bounce Score upgrades: fewer ranks, each one stronger.
New upgrade: Deep Resonance. Bounce score grows with every zone you reach, compounding. It replaces a hidden bonus, so now it's your choice.
Removed the spawn pause between zones, so the action keeps flowing as the game ramps up.
Removed hit-lag from the axe, Thunder Strike and the Black Hole. Hits that happen on their own no longer stutter the game, while your own blade hits keep their impact.

🎮 Controls & Interface

New mouse-only controls: hold the left mouse button to steer left and the right button to steer right. Clicking buttons never steers.
Upgrades and Glyphs can now be opened from the title screen.
The combo counter now shows Hyper and Supernova’s score multiplier (for example ×500×2), so you know exactly what you’re earning.
Added a Master Volume slider.

✨ Visuals & Clarity

Shielded enemies now show a glowing shield ring that bursts when you break it, instead of a grey tint.
Overcharged Blades now crackle with lightning, so you always know when they’re active, even in the busiest fights.

🐛 Fixes

Fixed the axe not hitting the same enemy again on later rotations.
Fixed a rare case where you could die twice in the same moment, which could also double your shards.
Fixed a plugged-in gamepad vibrating while playing with keyboard and mouse.
Various fixes and improvements.
