It's a recommend but with a massive asterisk because this IS awesome to play and experience but it's really only for those who are huge fans of horror games and survival horror and want to see one of, if not arguably the first, to do it.

The game has tons of charm, personality, atmosphere, and believe it or not can still be pretty dang scary at times depending on your tolerance lol. It's also very slow, deliberate, clunky, and at times obtuse, and includes (GULP) platforming... with tank controls.

So yeah, buyer beware, but if you're curious how the survival horror genre started, let alone an early example of Lovecraftian lore in a video game, and don't mind some jank, this is a super fun game to experience.
