Is there any port of this game with good controls?

I gave it my best shot, but the whole "single button that you change uses for in the menu" thing and having to quadruple tap to run are just horrible. Do any of the console ports have the sense to split it into action button, fight button and run button like Resident Evil did?

I hear the 3DO version has slightly better controls

The 3DO version has the best controls, but the game doesn't work on 3DO emulators unfortunately, the sound glitches out 100% on every emulator. Using some control customization and changing the clock speed within DOSBox on the Steam version is the best option unfortunately besides buying a (now expensive) 3DO console.

When you run the game--once you're in DOSBOX press ctrl+f1; that should bring you to the mapper in dosbox where you can reconfigure the keys. Not the best, but better than nothing.
