Glas and Deke - Fear Effect 1 (MAJOR SPOILERS)

So, I just finished Fear Effect 1 on the PS1 about an hour ago. Despite the wonky controls and some of the trial and error, I loved it and I loved the characters. I know that Fear Effect 2 is a prequel. So Deke and Glas and Hana al being in it make sense. However, Sedna, is supposed to be a sequel that takes place 4 or 6 years (depending on the source you read) after the events in Fear Effect 1.

Knowing that, how is Deke alive. Also, how is Hana and Glas both alive. Deke dies a pretty horrible death in the first game, gets turned into a demon who you have to beat and goes back to hell. So there should be virtually no chance of him coming back for Sedna unless somebody built one of the paper dolls of him and brought him back (which is a major plot point in FE1). So, I could almost buy him coming back due to that. However, at the end of FE1 you get to choose who to play as. Hana or Glas. Whomever you choose shoots the other dead. Or at least you believe them to be dead as they are shown on the ground in a pool of their own blood.

So, my question is how is Deke back? And then how are both Hana and Glas back? Did I already answer those questions or is Sedna assuming some alternate outcome to FE1?

If you beat Fear Effect 1 on HARD, there's a 3rd option you can pick for the final battle.

If you play the original game on hard (you can select it in the options menu) you unlock a trhid option before the final boss, beat the game and you get the good (and true) ending.

I find though Sedna works perhaps better as a bridge between Fear effect 2 and 1

FE1 takes place right after 2
