Report a translation problem
A: Sidestep is only performed from wall edges, not from weak or strong covers.
B: While we describe this rule in our codex in the chapter "Walls", we don't specifically mention in "Partial Covers" that these don't permit this unique attack mode.
Thanks for pointing this out, we will rewrite the "Partial Covers" section accordingly.
For an illustrated explanation on how our cover system works angle-wise, please refer to the chapter "Protected Areas" in the codex.

I mean, could someone explaing why is this not a flanking shot? the enemy has no cover from left (I'm shooting from the left side) but still I have penalties (72% hit chance) as if the cover from the south of that enemy would take effect.

To clarify, if your cover wall was rotated 90º I think it would be a flanking shot.
I think this should be addressed, it makes much more sense that it is always a flanking shot no matter what you are covering behind.
