Because this game is optimized for good old Windows 98, and it may have some compatibility issues running on newer OS like Windows 8.1 or 10.
You can overcome those difficulties by following way.

1. Flickers in gameplay.(especially at game start)
Before running the game, minimize all the windows, and close programs with pop up windows.

2. Crush in task switch.
Hit ESC key, to back to the title, and choose EXIT the game before switching task.

There is an issue on start up as the game screen doesn't show up and the sound is playing and the resolution is all out of whack making my desktop looks shrinked and odd looking.

The menu button on the XBOX One gamepad is the left stick button. That sucks, because it randomly opens the menu in the middle of the game when you're trying to do moves.

Your stick is very sensitive.
When you use it, hold it gentlly like briefs, and never pull or push it ;)

For some reason, the cutscenes in arcade mode don't play, the sounds are missing while the music can still be heard. and the Super meter doesn't show up. I'm not entirely sure what caused this, maybe I pressed something while the game's screen was blacked out (because I minimized the Steam window when I opened the game). I even tried reinstalling the game and verifying the integrity of the game cache too, no good.
EDIT: Restarting my computer seems to have solved it. I run Windows 10, so it was probably a compatibility issue like you mentioned.

I known players image is \char\xxx\CHAR.RSP but i don't know how to modify it.

Is there going to be steam trading cards or acievements for this game? Also the F12 screenshot button didn't work. Will it have steam overlay functions by any chance in the future?

Got unreadable SFWinC error on nvidia 10xx card.
Found that screen refresh rate in general Windows resolution settings was set to 30Hz.
After setting it to 60Hz game starts and works good.

Guess there's bunch of SFWinC errors and I can't recognize which one I had but hope it'll help.
