Learned Perfect Finesse, but Normal Controller Layout cannot use DAS Preservation
:steamsad:

I am using a Dualshock 4 controller on PC and Switch (using adaptor for the latter).

In the last month, I've memorised every single finesse movement, and managed to get close to zero finesse score (lower = better) on Tetresse, using the 'normal' controller layout.

However, just today, I found out that there is this thing called DAS preservation, which many pros like Wumbo, Blink, and Poke Dialga all use (I interviewed them directly on Twitch).

For instance, if you hold DAS right after placing a piece on the extreme right, you get DAS charged - meaning, your DAS for your next piece to the right becomes nearly instantaneous. More advanced techniques involve holding both left and right at once to do the same trick.

However, on the DS4 normal layout, one cannot hold hard-drop + DAS at once, or both left + right at once. Only Table 2 / B layout allows it.

So now I feel devastated ... I spent a lot of time learning perfect finesse, and reaching 100+ PPS on Jstris, but for PPT, the normal layout cannot be used for DAS preservation.

:steamsad:

There is only one possible path for me to venture into now: highjack the brain of someone who has mastered Table 2/B layout and implant his or her memories into my brain.

Or the other - wish that this was all a nightmare, so that I may awaken from the matrix, and be surrounded by machines ready to flush me down into oblivion.

┐(´д`)┌

Actually for the latter, I think it be better for me to remain asleep dreamin'.

Ya, so I'm very sad right now ... absolutely demolished already ...

That's rough, man. Would holding diagonally up not work for this? Does that diagonal move cancel the DAS preservation?

You can still use DAS preservation if you have a quick thumb. If you aren't able to preserve DAS this way it means you aren't even playing that fast in the first place. Not hard, really. I do it all the time.

I switched to a keyboard already. Trying to relearn everything.

(;一ω一||)

It's like having suffered a stroke, lost control of my body, and having to relearn everything once more.

Although it seems like a tragic fate, people like Stephen Hawkings have been able to overcome similar situations, so I shall be stalwart, and overcome this adversity with utmost fortitude as well!

Life may be tough, but when the going gets tough, the tough gets goin'
