I don't think it's going to be fixed. Endless modes in the Puyo series are meant as practice, not challenges.
Modern Tetris is a joke, don't play it. Do play PPT if you want to play Puyo, because Puyo is amazing, but if Tetris is all you care about you're not going to find good Tetris here. If you want a proper Tetris game where high speeds become brutal, Arika's Tetris: The Grand Master series is where it's at.
TTC won't allow it to be changed, Sega cannot make the game harder. This is your new Tetris now. If you don't like it give TGM a shot. It's a hard game, sure, but you said you wanted things to be harder so there you go. TGM2 and 3 also have easy modes to ease you into it.
I'm actually not that good at TGM myself, I've only made it to level 500 (20G) in TGM1 once. Still a fun game, and I can feel myself making progress as I keep practicing. You don't have to be KevinDDR to enjoy a good challenge.
