Do you suppose the PC port fixes the imbalance of the two games
When playing multiplayer, Puyo Puyo players have an unfair advantage. One day, my friends and I wanted to test this and we had three of them playing tetris against me playing puyo. I easily defeated them.

There's a distinct power gap between players playing puyo well and players playing tetris well. I wonder if they plan to address this.

Also, Denuvo sucks.

I personally have little issue playing against one or the other, but I hear Puyo players complain about Tertis being too powerful a lot more than the opposite.

There is indeed a power gap between Puyo and Tetris... that heavily favours Tetris if both players are good (look in YouTube for the AnimEVO tournament so that you can see it's actually the other way around from what you think).

Tetris still needs a few more nerfs IMO but since the game has to fit The Tetris Company's guidelines, I don't know what else can be done.

I honestly doubt it

I admit none of us are champions at the games, but my play group rocks Puyo over Tetris
The two games are fundamentally incompatible. Garbage comes from the top in Puyo but from the bottom in Tetris, which means that Tetris can completely ruin Puyo with a few quick papercuts, but if Puyo tries anything short of a 7-chain Tetris can effortlessly bounce back. And since Tetris is a much faster game, an expert can bury Puyo before it even gets a chance to do anything. I'm not exaggerating when I say that many times I've gone up against Tetris I literally didn't get to play.

I really don't think there's any way to fix this. Just give us matchmaking filters so the Puyo players and Tetris players can go our separate ways and forget mixed versus ever happened.

I only play swap mode with friends, we only go to plain versus when someone only knows tetris. Fusion mode is... I don't like it, so I don't play it.

Dunno if they're gonna do that. I thought the balance was okay?
Nope, mixed versus is beyond broken. You can see the top of the leaderboards is all Tetris players.

More correctly, the problem is that since Tetris garbage comes from below, all the tetris player has to do is keep their middle four cells clear, and they can constantly make back-to-back line clears with no fear of losing, not even needing to go for a Tetris clear.

plus, Tetris garbage comes with single holes to clear their lines, and that counts for sending garbage, too, so the garbage actually ends up helping more than hurting. If it even becomes relevant in the first place.

In lower-level play, Puyo does overpower Tetris, I hear. But fundamentally, Tetris is way stronger due to how garbage affects it. And there's really no way to change the garbage to where it hurts Tetris.

The Tetris player is at a slight disadvantage.

I imagine new players reading this thread won't know the meme, so I gotta explain before anyone takes it seriously - That's a quote from IGN's review that has become a community injoke for how wrong it is.

I don't understand, both are different and requires a knowledge of the mechanics

It ultimately comes down to how garbage works in the two games and the fact that Tetris is a significantly faster game.

Those who've seen high level PPT play know that tetris players dominate puyo puyo.

i'm thinking that if one is garbage at Tetris, this would be true. A master Tetris player would have an easier time with the game, but Puyo Puyo is more casual, I think
