Super-intelligent Tetris Player Friend makes me feel inferior ...
I have been friends with some player for a year now, and I recently introduced him to Puyo and Tetris.

This guy has an IQ of 160, and even though he got the game just 3 days ago, he told me he has already memorised around 80 patterns on Tetris, and when I fought him, he could execute T-spin doubles and triples much faster than me, even though I have been playing this game for a few months.

Is it just me, or does Tetris really need a super-high intelligence to master?

The fact that he could out-do me in just 3 days, when I've played for months makes me feel inferior ...

This guy was just incredible ...

He memorised like Albatross, Pelican, BT Cannon, B2B T-Spin Triple, DT2, Kaidan, STSD, TKI, Infinite TST, Imperial Cross, One-piece Wonder, all Perfect Clear solutions, and even the J, K, and I-spin patterns even though the game does not award those, then the 3-wide, 4-wide, and Tetris spam pattern etc.

What the hell man.

"To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand competitive Tetris..."

It's not about how smart you are. It's how fast you can process information. Knowing the best spot for pieces to go and knowing how to use the next set of blocks. Similar to Chess.

so you are trying to make us feel inferior too?

Being intelligent doesn't make you better at Tetris, and being better at Tetris doesn't make you intelligent. It's just a distinct skill anyone can develop. Being bad at Tetris doesn't mean you're inferior in any way.
