Would it be possible to add some kind of difficulty setting for the CPU?
I think this would be a good idea.

The CPU difficulty is based on character. The trend of CPU difficulty is best described as the further down and to the right you go, the harder the CPUs are (There are a few exceptions). Ex and Ecolo are the hardest CPUs and Ringo and Tee are among the easier CPUs. There is a cheat code to enable what we call "Core AI," but it is only accessible with the use of a gamepad (as far as we know). Hold down the Left Button (or whatever your controller's equivalent to LB is) while selecting the CPU to enable Core AI which will set any CPU to the hardest difficulty (which is a little bit stronger than Ex and Ecolo).

If you don't have these characters, they are unlocked in Act 7 of Story mode, or you can use another cheat code with a gampad to unlock everything (I forgot the code but there is a guide with it). If you're looking for good Tetris AI, you will probably be disappointed. The Tetris AI is neither fast nor technical.

As far as I know this only works with gamepad not with keyboard.

But in Arcade battles, you could freely change CPU's difficulty, from Sweet (Easy) to Spicy (Hard).

That's correct, but since you could freely change difficulty setting in Arcade battles.

That's not the CPU difficulty. That's the speed for the pieces. Sweet is Very Slow, Mild is Slow, Medium is Normal, Hot is Fast, and Spicy is Very Fast.
