Can I make a private room with up to 3 of my friends and can we choose to play Puyo Puyo/Tetris instead of the mix? Basically just seeing how open ended the options are. PLS HEP ME

You can make rooms for up to four players (host included) and directly invite friends to play; not sure if there is a pass-protected private-room option, but if your friends are taking up the other three slots it shouldn't matter too much.

Host in a Free Play room can choose any of the modes (i.e. Versus, Fusion, Swap, Party, and Big Bang) to host, including Versus (with the players individually selecting either Tetris or PP gameplay).

EDIT: Just double-checked. You can create a Locked room but not a password-protected one, meaning you'd need to directly invite the contacts in question.

Yes, you can create locked (private) rooms or public rooms and manage your invitations through Steam

Yes, you can. You are able to play single player and multiplayer Puyo Puyo-only and Single Player and Multiplayer Tetris-only matches besides the mixed and swap modes. There are a plenty amount of options
