Hard drop, hold & balance
I am a gaming veteran (at least playing since 1992 is some amount of time) and therefore, I play Tetris without hard drop and hold.

Haven't played online yet but isn't it unfair if someone plays with and without those settings?

If settings are the same for all players...forget my question then. :)

If you're going to do Adventure, to unlock characters and such, you'll need to adapt. I was never good at Tetris, but the game forced me to improve myself. Especially 5-9 Screw that stage.

Any changes to Hold affects all Tetris players (and all players in Fusion), and most strategies for modern tetris assume hold is available (even with the 7-bag system, it's possible to end up with very unfavorable sequences of tetriminoes, which Holds mitigate).

Changing Quick Drop (which I habitually refer to as Sonic Lock) away from its default value will either enable it for all Puyo players (ON) or disable it for all Tetris players (OFF). Note that Quick-Dropping Puyos does NOT give any points, unlike Quick-Dropping Tetriminoes. This matters for a few things, most notably any Score-Attack mode.

Interesting, thanks!

What about SHADOW? I play without because the old Tetris didn't have one...but playing with shadow IS an advantage!

old tetris was missing a lot of things because it was using crappy nes software and no one knew how to code. Time to learn and adapt to the new way pops.

Just played with ghost on...it is so much easier BUT takes away the fun...as you immediately know if a piece will fit or not...playing without is a bit of a geometric game.

Ghost is there so you can focus on honing your speed. In Tetris you gotta set em up right, but you also need to be fast and reactive.
Honestly, I think you'd best see this as a different game, sort of, than tetris. If you try to play this game like you play old tetris you're just gonna be at a disadvantage all the time.

If you're up for it, maybe it's possible to disable these things just for yourself? Just to increase the challenge.

You can set no hold and no hard drop in free play mode and play with other players with those setting.
Cheers

Thanks!

I bought the game mainly for local multiplayer, 2, 3 and 4 players. :) We are all used to playing without hold and ghost.
