Is it possible to beat a puyo player with tetris in VS?

I have played a few rounds of ranked, and my game of choice is tetris, but everyone else seems to be rocking puyo, and as far as i can tell its impossible to beat a puyo player with tetris, by the time i get a good brick up, the puyo player hits me with a big chain and BANG screen full of junk, and instant loss.

Has anyone had any luck beating a puyo player with tetris?

I never tried any t spin strats, i tend to focus on tetris blocks, the t spin looks like it would be a good harraser.

Try that. T-Spins are much faster than Tetris (once you get the hang of it, of course) and deal pretty much the same damage.

You need to know the power of spins , they varies , triple t spin looks more powerful than tetris but hard to setup for first time and need 5 lines to set it up and any mistake you do is like you added more garbage lines but colorful ones

After playing this game for about a year, I can say that any of the Puyo defenders are just full of poop. The puyo combos are toddler skill level and drop more than the entire screen in tetris trash. The tetris combos barely touch the puyo play field, and that's only if you get a 8+ combo tetris side, which, is the whole screen. By the time you build up enough for another 8+ combo in tetris, the puyo player got a 2 combo and you're dead.

If it's that easy then I'm sure you'll have no trouble unseating all the Tetris players at the top of the leaderboards then. Show us how it's done, go beat Wumbo, Amemiya, and Blink.

You know what the problem is? You are going for combos against Puyo.

They were nerfed a few months ago.

If you spam T-Spins and Tetrises, you'll be digging far faster than Puyo can hurt you.

I'm telling you this as a seasoned Puyo player (that casually stomps Tetris players that don't try to do what I've just explained) - I've been on the receiving end. We Puyo players stand no chance against good Tetris players.

If you are playing Tetris and losing against Puyo players, you need to get better at Tetris. Tetris is more powerful than Puyo, due to how fast that Tetris players can set up T-Spins and Tetris compared to Puyo players making 4 and 5 chains.

what he means is all the people who already have 20+ years of tetris and puyo exp have to climb the ranks.
any one who just got the game has to climb to the rank that actually represents them

No, what that means is that since the game was released yesterday, everyone, even the top powerhouses of Puyo and Tetris, have low ratings.

And since rating is a measure of skill... you may want to wait a week or two before getting paired with people whose rating accurately measures skill.

i'm not master on this game but what i learned for double t-spin which is easier one , you just have to make in 2 lines ( T ) shaped gap , and place tetrimino on third line to make one of its blocks hang over the ( T ) gap , and when the T tetrimino come in rotate it facing on left or right depends of the gap you made , when it reachs at the lines surface , quickly rotate the tetrimino on propper direction before its locking , AND REMEMBER DON'T USE HARD DROPS USE SOFT DROPS , it needs practice
