Every fight, from a duel of two to a clash of armies, now runs on one engine, man by man. Battles go up to two thousand men - a thousand a side. Past six hundred the field grows wider than your screen, and the camera follows the fighting across it on its own. Every soldier still has his own health, his own courage and his own swing.

The roster is now 86 units in eight ages.

The Wild West rides in as a new age: Gunslingers and Outlaws, revolvers and all.

Modern warfare

• Katyusha and Grad - rocket trucks that throw a ripple of rockets across the enemy's ground

• Abrams Tank - the main gun fires shells while the machine gun on the turret cuts down infantry at the same time

• Chonma Tank, KPA Riflemen and Marines

• Flamethrower - sets whole ranks burning

• Biker - a rifle on a motorbike: rides off, turns and fires, keeping its distance like a horse archer

• Battle Truck - drives straight through the line and throws men aside

Ancient and medieval

• Legionaries lock shields into a testudo when the arrows come

• Gladiators, Rebel Slaves and the Scorpion bolt thrower

• Catapult - hurls a spread of stones at once

• Ninja - slips a share of whatever is shot at him

• Bogatyr - a giant who knocks men flying

Fantasy

• The Prophet calls down miracles in turn: BLESSING heals his side, THUNDERSTORM strikes with lightning, a HURRICANE tears through the enemy's ranks, and ARMAGEDDON rains burning stones from the sky

• Waiting men look around and shift their weight; the winners throw their arms up and cheer

• Gunners reload on screen instead of standing still

• The battle camera now always glides smoothly - no jumps when a fight starts or ends

• In duels, the health strips at the top follow every blow

All new units are in the Contest, Epic Battle and Sandbox modes, and in the Unit Forge's parts: revolvers, flamethrowers, gladii, a staff, a robe, a motorbike and a truck. The scorpion, the catapult and the prophet also march in the Warpath campaign.
