Got through the first biome and almost cleared the second in a couple of hours.

Really digging the humor and how satisfying it is to smash everything up. You burst into a room, wreck the mobs, feel unstoppable… then get careless and lose three HP in the most basic encounter :(

Once I made peace with dying, things started clicking. You can carry upgrades from Sho and Zina between runs, but slots are limited—grab a crate from Sho. You can spend a few runs farming currency and setting yourself up properly. Gotta make death contribute to the economy somehow.

My go-to upgrades are big fists, double HP, and the faster dash cooldown from Zina. For a serious run, I stock up on shields and heals.

Pros:
- The humor—pretty unusual for a game.
- The artwork is absolutely fantastic.
- Simple combat, but you really feel every hit.
- Fun platforming.
Cons:
- Buildcrafting isn’t obvious at first. You need to experiment, and the shop’s upgrade selection is random. More of a minor gripe than a real downside, though.
Gonna try it on my Steam Deck tomorrow! Great game :)

A bit mixed on this one. I was excited for it based on the art work and it did not disappoint. Lovely animation and original style throughout that had me completely stopping myself just to see the minor details.

Music is fine again going with the aesthetic and serving as good backing tracks without distracting too much.

Combat is quite basic and definitely more of a classic platformer experience. It works well on basic enemies but becomes a bit awkward on bosses with large hit boxes.

Where it really falls flat for me is level design and roguelike aspects. DISCLAIMER: I am very tired of roguelike mechanics in games. But I dont see this game benefitting in any way from being a roguelike, in fact I feel it detracts from the game. There looks to not be too much content so the roguelike aspect will pad that out. Maybe players are just too irked by low play time, but with this style of art its at least expected for me to be a much shorter experience.

The level design again its hampered with the roguelike procedural generation where general levels turn into blobs of bleh. A lot of the personality of the game is lost when you just go right into a spattering of enemies, elevation and traps. There are segments with more interesting platforming and beginning at biome 3 it especially starts to grow some legs with platforming. It reminds me a lot of Amiga and DOS games where it only exists as a surface for the player to traverse rather than memorable independent levels that are refined around specific styles. To compare it with super meat boy and celeste where rooms are designed with specific intentions.

If this game took more of that approach with specific designed rooms for a single player campaign I think this would hit it out of the park for me. But right now a lot of the game is meandering until I find some good nuggets. But because the meandering has such style and originality I am still enjoying it.
