eg. Run in with RT (sprint) and press shoot when in dunk range.
Same way as alley-oop seems buggy with AI (sometimes you have to mash LT a dozen times or more before anything will happen.

Finally figured this out. The person that is going to receive the ball needs to hold both triggers, your run and Ally oop button, and press the shoot button. Basically you have to go for a dunk while also holding the Ally oop button. Just don't forget to release the shoot button at the right time once you're passed the ball.
