Xbox controller support on PC
Hi. Bought this for my kids but having problems getting it to recognize Gamepads controllers. I’ve tried wired 360 and series x controllers, and steam controller - all cases feather won’t recognize any game pad inputs unless I hold the ‘guide’ button (ie if I hold the Xbox button I can now use the left stick to move, otherwise only kb + mouse works). Appears kb + mouse inputs take precedence. Any ideas?

I was trying to get this to work on steam link, but the same issue appears when I use a wired controller directly to the pc.

Looks like a great game for the kids so I’d appreciate any help. It could be a ‘chord’ issue with the Xbox controllers but I haven’t really had issue with other games so that’s why I’m posting here : )

Poked around the forums more and figured out the problem - my HOTAS was being recognized as a gamepad!

Thanks to user taz.in.bc for his comments in another thread, hopefully this helps anyone else having gamepad issues!

Hey I have an insight here. I don't have a gamepad connected but I do have a joystick plugged in... which could be confusing the heck out of the game (or it might be Steam's blankety-blankety controller configuration layer which drives me crazy on a regular basis). I'll try (a) using the joystick, (b) unplugging the joystick, and see what happens then. Also will check on what Steam's darned config layer thinks it is doing. I had forgotten that joystick was live (I fool around developing custom game controllers so there's a lot of USB hardware on my worktable all the time)... will report back.

[update an hour or so later] YES. that was the problem, having a joystick plugged in confused either the game or Steam (most likely Steam, based on recent experience). When I unplugged the joystick I started getting the same prompts (WASD, not L) and could progress easily through the tutorial! Thanks for your patient advice.
