How exactly does director voice chat work?

My understanding is that when the director is not directly spectating someone everyone on the map can hear them, and when they're directly spectating someone only that person can hear them. Is that how it works?

When you are spectating someone, only that person can hear you unless another player is nearby then both the players can hear you.

Hi! The voice chat is actually proximity-based. So wherever the Show Director drone is, players are able to hear them based on a certain proximity. :)

I would strongly recommend allowing for multiple modes. Sometimes I want to broadcast something to everyone, sometimes I want only people nearby to hear, sometimes I want to speak to one player. Communication between director and players is such an integral part of the role, I'd be willing to work with three separate keybinds just for the different modes.
