Hwan vs Yun-seong
Hi! I just saw that some leak seems to point to Hwang as the next dlc character (https://soulcalibur.fandom.com/wiki/Hwang for some info about Hwang). His style is similar to Yun-seong's (https://soulcalibur.fandom.com/wiki/Yun-seong for more info about Yun-seong).

Both characters appear before in the soul series but they didn't in the later entries. I was wondering, which of them would you prefer and why? Personally I think that Yun-seong has a much more interesting personality. I like his struggles with Seong-Mina, being both raised by the same master and Yun-seong being the younger and more impulsive.

Hwang seems to be that kind of hero character that is too perfect = boring. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I think it's a bit frustrating that the developers are probably gonna include Hwang instead of Yun-seong, when the later had a higher score in the official popularity pool. I mean, I thought that people prefered Yun-seong.

What do you think? Hwang vs Yun-seong?

I like Yun more, and I think he has better kicks than Hwang, but their styles are very similar. While I would prefer Yun more, the fact that Hwang has art and voice acting already heavily implies him over Yun who is mentioned a grand total of once in Libra of Souls.

They are saving Yun-seong for Season 3, that's why we get Hwang first.
Fine with me, I actually like Hwang more.

Folks at 8wayrun had knife fights over those two...

Anyway, hWang looks good. Has had nice stages back in the day.

Imagine that they add a character in the season pass 3 that is so similar to another character in the season pass 2. It won't happen. They have already problems to justify the price of the season pass.

And to be honest, while I would prefer Yun-seong in a vacuum, if I already had Hwang then I would prefer a more different character like Aeon or Viola.

That's the old song we have already went through multiple times during SC6 life cycle and even before. "Amy is too similar to Raphael, they won't sell her as DLC", "Cassandra is too similar to Sophitia, they won't sell her as DLC" and even "Mi-na is too similar to Kilik, we don't need both". If we go even further into SC history we'll get into inevitable "Hwang and Yun-seong are both Xianghua clones anyways, so scrap them both". Going any further than that may result into "Yoshimitsu is just Mitsurugi with a couple of meme moves from Tekken on top", also I believe only the oldest fans would remember those ancient times. Also never forget Siegfried and Nightmare are literally the same guy.

I bet when Hwang and Yun are both out and Rock is announced for Season 3, some people will complain he's just an Astaroth clone.

But Cassandra and Amy are much more developed and beloved characters. ♥♥♥♥, Amy has a huge and sinister fandom behind XD Those characters are much better stablished.
Yun is super annoying. Glad we're getting Hwang back.

And why exactly is Amy more established?
Both Amy and Hwang were bonus character clones in SC3. Then in SC3: Arcade Edition both were decloned and turned into real unique fighters. Then pretty much nobody actually played SC3: Arcade Edition. Then in SC4 Amy came back and Hwang didn't even though at that point they were equally developed and deserving to come back.
That's the main reason Amy is more established than Hwang and it's kinda BS and unfair. I think it's time to fix this whole situation.

While I personally think that Yun > Hwang, I'd be okay with either since Hwang would most likely be an updated version of SCIV Yun-Seong.

TBF, SCIII was when Nightmare actually had his own moveset. NM in SCI was alternate frame data for an otherwise identical movelist and he was Siegfried proper in SCII.

Amy felt unique but Hwang looked like the stereotypical hero. Just, I mean... look at them. Amy is pure fanservice. Strange fanservice but anyway. Hwang is any good guy with a sword.

At least Yun-seong was dumb and funny. I never saw anything interesting about Hwang.

it was during that time that sig proper was the "bonus character" while NM was the "default," kind of like how astaroth took over from rock around that time.

i've made my salt about the splitting of the moveset in 3 no secret.

I just remembered how I used to feel about the splitting of Nightmare into Nightmare and Siegfried. I really hated it back then. It was like losing my favorite character: Nighmare and Siegfried were very different from the original nightmare.

Interesting how time heals by erasing memories. Now it feels right to see both of them.
