Thank you for this game being on Steam Deck! :)
There's no Tekken or Dead or Alive if you have a Deck and wanna get your 3D fighting fix, but SCVI is on it and it runs pretty darn good! It takes a bit to get used to using muscle memory though as you adjust to the hand and button positions, but it's worth it once you adjust to it! :D

Good to hear that.
I think character creation would be handy when you have small spare time.
I hope you connect to ethernet cable when you play online.

How is it so far? Is it playing well? My biggest question is can you connect any kind of external controller to the steam deck?

Hey there - Yes, you can connect USB-C and Bluetooth controllers for the Steam Deck. (Even keyboards!) It plays well, but if you're one to play by muscle memory for playing so long, using the Deck controllers takes a bit to get used to. The gameplay is smooth and by far more than expected. I haven't spent much time on it because I tried it on someone else who has it already. I think in time it'll be easy to adapt and also is way better than the Nintendo Switch as far as controller setup awkwardneess. The buttons and anologs are well placed, but spaced far apart compared to using a regular controller.

If you ever got to play SCIV on Sony PSP, it's better than that, and in my opinion that was awesome. The gameplay wasn't quite as seamless as it seems now!

A side note: It's hard for some people I've seen to play SCVI with you or even to respond to your question because you have no respect for the Lord Jesus with putting the number of the antichrist in your name. Don't you want to move on after this crappy life here to the paradise that is offered to us who believe in Jesus' nam?. All it takes is to accept Him as your Lord and personal Savior and not be swallowed up and lose your salvation for what this world has to offer which is nothing but war, greed, sickness, lies, and eternal death. We all will die, but wouldn't you rather have your soul live on with Him forever in what God has awaiting those who accept his Son than with fire and eternal damnation in hell?! The name you apparently hold close to you now, is it worth your eternal life? I hope not, but it's your choice, and I would be failing Him by not at least saying this to you. Either way, it's your decision and I pray for your soul that you choose the right one. The change it will make in your life even now will amaze you knowing what awaits you is beyond anything that is out there today. -end sermon- :)

I had to answer, I'm a Christian 1st so I wanted to let you know what can await you with Jesus in your life, but 2nd I'm also a gamer and chose to address your question. See you around the open SC games sometime I'm sure, but know why so many kick you for your name. I'd rather give you insight both to your question and also let you know that all things work together for good to those who love God! Good luck! (Steam Deck is cool, but also know that you can add a 1 TB card to whatever storage Deck you decide on! The 512G is better however for the better no glare screen alone! :) )

Yes, you can now out of the box (with your own cable of course) PLUS they will be coming out with a dock for it too. It'll just keep things looking neater without wires running everywhere and be a constant source of power while you play outside of handheld. I think it was delayed because of all the Covid mess that was going on when it was originally due out. Last I checked it's back on a schedule, check the page for updates. It's nice to take it from the couch to a TV (or laptop that can handle the specs if that's your gig) :D

thank you for the detailed technical answers i really appreciate that and its just what i needed to know! as for the spiritual, religious and philosophical matters, all i have to say is i hope we can atleast respect some people have different beliefs yknow and that there is a bigger world out there than christianity and we all have to get along without necessarily trying to preach our worldviews to others but i do recognize its coming from a place of love, tough love, that worried about my, and others salvation. and ill take it as a positive. I hope soul cal is secular place where all can put that stuff aside and just game.

ps - most people in casuals dont kick me, i vaguely remember you giving me problems about it, and hey if it does bother you on a religious basis that much we dont have to play. but i feel like jesus would be okay with it as long as your faith is strong.
pps - more and more people are becoming irreligious arent they?

Ah, that's very nice.
I wanted to have portable set up for SC6 and considering Xbox Series S with following box.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09KBCQ82P

But Steam deck can connect ethernet and external USB device (and hopefully external monitor), it would be far better.

I'll check more details.

No prob, glad to dish the info and hope it helps. It's amazing to see it in action for real on the Deck. I hope you get to try it and it lives up to your standards (it went beyond mine, been playing SC since 1 on Dreamcast (well not 3 because I was silly and had a Gamecube and 5 imo wasn't impressive so I played it once and sold it back :P )

Your reply was cool to the rest of my post - you're honest, spoke well as to your stance, and I can't deny you that! :) Most people wouldn't of responded like you did and that garners respect from me. Thank you for commanding the same from what I said.

Let the community know if you get a Deck, and if you put SC on it what you think. It is awesome and I think the Deck is totally the future of portable gaming. People need to know that SC did right by fans by taking time with Valve making sure it's able to be the 1st 3D good fighter on the Deck. I'm hoping that it'll get even more SCVI players to get it since they can't play Tekken or DoA on the Deck at this point, but like 3D fighters! More SC players would be great! I hope they do make a SCVII at some point. No one does 8-way plus character creation like SC. :D

nice! my first SC was 5 actually, so it holds a special place in my heart! im honestly not crazy about alot of fighting games, but the 8 way run 3D aspect, CaS, the whole character designs and storyline come together to make a really unique fun game! like many i have high hopes for the steam deck.. so far it seems to be living up to the hype! also, you having as much soulcal experience as you do, i hold your views on the gameplay and the general soul cal steam deck experience in the utmost regard. definitely helps to sell me on getting a deck for myself! now my only question is, is there a significant difference in playability between the different models? my understanding was that gameplay should be pretty uniform across them all but of course the other models have enhancements like more storage and then the anti glare screen. but yeah all in all nice chatting with ya! hopefully if we run into each other on a lobby we can play a match or two.
