2025. I HAVE FAITH

They need to wait for Tekken 8 hype to die down a bit. They don't want to steal market from their current product. Given that Tekken has done well it shows market for fighting games and that SC is based on a weapons based medieval setting I'm quietly optimistic that they will green light it.

Probably 2027. That'd probably when Tekken 8 goes into maintenance mode but not quite end of life

SF6 > 2023
T8 > 2024
SC7 > 2025

Tekken 8 basically just came out, so it'll probably have the bulk of Namco's attention for a while. We'll probably have to wait at least a year. (For reference, Tekken 7 was released in 2017, while Soul Calibur 6 was released in 2018.)

It'll probably still be a while I think. Aren't they still working on Blue Protocol as well? It's also been a while since the last God Eater game, so who knows if they might do that sooner than SC7

Sadly, it is unlikely anytime soon.

A TL;DR
>Project Souls team was disbanded after 6
>Bamco has slowly pulled more and more funding and support from the game
>Despite selling over 2 million units and being profitable, Bamco considered it a failure.
>The story is a mess and all over the place.
>COVID killed the EVO hype around the game and people moved on.
>A hyper politically correct/woke climate would guarantee backlash

Does that mean all hope is gone? No. There is a chance this game could massively pick up popularity again if suddenly sales numbers went up.
How could this happen?
Buy your friends copies of this game when it's on sale and gift it to them.
It's $5 on sale
The gameplay is casual enough to play for fun with friends

SC7 will still happen regardless tbh.

If Tekken 8 were to make a base game character underpowered for the purposes of replacing him with paid DLC later down the line, people would complain about it and demand the bad character to be good.

The Soulcalibur series has Dampierre and Lizardman for characters that they could make intentionally bad for the purposes of pushing DLC sales, and SoulCalibur players would go "good riddance, stop being poor, buy the replacement character"

On the opposite side of things, I've already said my piece about Seong Mi-na in this game, and people seem to think that wanting to have sex with her is sufficient reason for her to remain overpowered, so we'll probably see something similar with another female character next game. Again, people would complain about an overpowered female character if that was a thing in T8.

I hope this and really hope DOA7 on 2026.
Harada recently stated, after the suggestion of a SC rep in Tekken that the fans would much rather have a new game than a guest character in another franchise, or something along those lines. There's still hope.
