beginner friendly character
Hey there! I'm new to SC, been playing Tekken mostly when it comes to fighting games. Is there something like a good character to start with in this game? From the ones I've tried, I like Kilik, Geralt, Groh and Azwel the most. Yoshi and Taki seem cool too. Any thoughts?

In this game all characters are beginner friendly. Maybe Yoshi is harder. Haven`t tried him in SC. This is not Tekken. Different audience. It does have similarities but Tekken is a lot more complicated, deeper and if you care - competitive. Think of SC6 as Tekken Light or Tekken Zero.
You can pick any character you want.
Kilik is very good because of his good range options.
Geralt doesn`t have as many "cool" tricks like some other characters and at the moment i haven`t seen many Geralts. None of them were good.
You can try Mitsurugi. He is simple.
Taki is not bad.
You can also join 2B army.

All the ones you listed are good tbh. But I'd avoid Azwel just coz the stance mechanic could be a bit confusing for a start and they guy could get slightly overnerfed in 6 days when S2 hits live.
I have to disagree with jack tho, while mitsu is a really good started, taki is complicated and need a large ammount of optimasation to do well, otherwise you are gonna end up one of the takis that spamm 5 online or gimicky moves and hope it works, the charr is great but you prolly dont wanna start there, and the same goes for 2B just cause its easy to tunnel vision on stuff that won't teach you anything.

I'd say as a general rule, the more stance heavy a character is, the less beginner friendly. But if you have experience with another fighter and have a grasp of fundamentals, give everyone a go in arcade mode, narrow it down to a few you like, then try them online and settle on one without worrying about beginner friendly.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll probably start off with Kilik then.

To be fair. Spamming is very strong in this game and sadly, it can take you far. It works. That was not the reason i mentioned Taki. At least not the only one =D. Too many characters are "gimicky" in this game. There are much harder characters than Taki. If i remember it correctly, there should be in-game information about character difficulty. In museum possibly.
2B is strong character in my opinion. Even without spam.

Yesterday i saw how Plant/Sprout defeated B2 player. If rank list is still the same as it was 10 months ago, then B2 is 8 ranks away from highest rank. Sprout is rookie/first rank. This is a sign that things like the difficulty of characters are not important.

Any of the characters whit oversized or long range wepons.
The most mash frendly characters are Sunongmina 2B and Nightmare.

If you acualy want to lern the game and want characters that are easy when you are actually playng seriussly whit intent and not mashing then Mitsurugi Sophitia Geralt and Casandra are def the easiest to master.

I'd recommend Mitsurugi if you've found yourself to be the most fond of Geralt tbh. He fights at a similar range and his stances give a fair degree of options and he has better mixup potential too. In fact, the only Geralt has that Mitsurugi doesn't is chip damage.

I definitely don't want to just mash. Would like to learn some basics, punishment, combos etc. In the end it's probably smart to know all characters on at least a superficial level.

Well try maxi, i would say Xiang but she is very mashy, sophi actually needs you to know what you're doing but she's easy enough to pick up, however she is mainly a punish character.

Sophitia is usually regarded as a very good first pick to learn the basics.

Nightmare is the great noob killer, you pick Nightmare, you will smack other beginner players around. You will also absolutely learn most of the basic mechanics, the only problem is that you will also learn a lot of noob killing techniques that are absolutely terrible to use against players who are actually good, so at some point you will most probably hit a skill wall that will be quite hard to overcome, but until that point Nightmare is very beginner friendly.
Also if after hitting the skill wall you actually realise you don't like the way an advanced Nightmare is supposed to be played as opposed to a noob Nightmare, you'll have an opportunity to switch to Siegfried, who shares a lot of stuff with Nightmare, but is also very different and more advanced. I personally feel it's a very natural progression to go.

To append to the above post, Nightmare still has some pretty good merits for high level play, and the difference between a good and bad NM player is the difference between night and day.

Plus, he's probably the primary factor that keeps the population of Sophitia mains in check. His poke spam game is pretty good, not gonna lie.

ommm, you do realise the Sophitia is THE NM counter... like... one of the most one sided matchups in the game ?
