if i buy dlc on gog, will it work if i bought base game on steam?
Know for certain reasons.

Well whatever the reason you cannot buy DLC on another site and expect it to work here. You would need to buy the game again on GOG.

That is an excellent point, I had forgotten GOG doesn't use any DRM games at all, so yes SC6 wouldn't be on there. So as you said if OP is referring to GMG then ya that will work here just fine.
