Help me choose between this and Tekken 7
I know they're different but if I had to choose one. Online multiplayer is an important factor for me. I lean more towards Soul Calibur but how active is the multiplayer? It seems like Tekken's player count is much higher.

tekken playerbase is infinitely bigger. But the soulcalibur one is pretty active and big too.
Also sc is the better game

Tekken has a bigger player base but is more difficult in terms of learning its controls and combos. SoulCalibur is more beginner-friendly. And, as you say, Tekken has the bigger player base.

Well, you've just missed the Christmas sale, which would've allowed you to get both for a lot less than the current price of one.

I personally like SC better, but both are good.

T7 is indeed more populated and recently got improved netcode. Online for SCVI is still healthy though, only some times on ranked you'll get matched with people of a very different rank.

SCVI has more single player contents and a character creator.

Tekken for multiplayer, Soulcalibur for everything else.

Player base is less than Tekken 7. But I think it is well enough. You'll get constant match every 2-3 min. Matching ranks are more spread.

I'm drop out of Tekken as I could not do back steps. But after I switched from lever to hitbox, probably I can.

I found myself later, I don't like fist fighting game so much. Especially I don't like to see male hits female. But female hits male/female is ok for me. So I use only female characters.

SC6 is weapon battle and has distance. I've also grown up with Japanese anime and comic. Most of anime and comic character use weapon. SC6's character creation is fun for me to recreate these character in game.

SC6 was first version for me. I did not have any favorite character. But I played Nier Automata. I liked the game but did not like the story. 2B seems happier in SC6, so I'm keep using 2B.

How many people are playing SC lately? I can't find it on Steamcharts.

According to Steamdb: right now - 354, 24-hour peak - 550.
It's not many, but it's not bad. Many fighting games has less.
Power Ranger: Battle for the Grid has 16 right now, 24 is 24-hour peak. And it's the game with rollback netcode and crossplay between platforms. It's painful to realise that games with better netcode are in fact least played games in the fighting genre.

You'll probably have to end up getting both anyways just cuz of how the PC gaming scene in Japan works. I'm personally biased towards SoulCalibur since it seems to have a lower barrier of entry compared to most other fighting games and I've had some pretty fond memories of SoulCalibur II, III and IV. Even played a bit of Soul Edge and SoulCalibur in the arcades, the former moreso.

Soul calibur is way more accessible compared to tekken, I highly recommend this game to new players, even though the player base is not that big.

Unlike tekken, this game has a variety of defensive options to deal with pressure, easy movement and shorter combos. Tekken will get you very frustrated, playing tekken is like taking an exam in tekken knowledge, you will get destroyed by the most annoying strings unless you lab the game extensively.

Get neither. KI has way better online (on PC you'll need to set up lobbies though).

Killer Instinct is on Xbox Game Pass.
So I tried and regret (I cannot remove game from achievement list).
It's nothing similar to SC6 or T7.
So I understand if someone like it, the person would not choose SC6 or T7.

I would. KI 2013 is probably the best fighting game released in the last 15 years. The problem is (back when I was still playing - Steam ranked and casual were pretty good) due to Xbox exclusivity the game reached Steam pretty late. Casual is still going strong, but those players are like machines right now. You are mostly cannon fodder for them.

So yea, I like that game and I like, with all shortcomings, SCVI.

I suggested it bc it has the best online, and good online was a big concern of the OP.
