Can't play with friends in Casual Lobbies
The game works just fine with other people but with my one friend we just get a black screen when going from lobby to character select. We've tried just about everything and nothing works. Full price game btw

Perhaps your connection with this one friend is for whatever reason just incompatible. It happens sometimes because fighting games are P2P. Saying you tried everything isn't gonna do much.. we'll need the deets on what you've tried so far etc.

That's just it though, it did work fine for like 5-10 matches just fine. And then some random joined our lobby because we forgot to set it to private, and it has not worked since. So far to attempt to fix it, at least on my end I have tried
-Validating all files through steam
-restarting my router
-reinstalling the game
-changing my steam download region to match his
-attempting to join non private lobbies and play each other through those
-setting each other to away and then back to online in game to try to jank it into working
Absolutely nothing is working, I bought two damn copies of this game and it is completely busted. We played just fine for hours and then suddenly nothing. I've checked multiple forums, and twitter about this, and it's not just effecting us. The team is supposedly aware of it, but hasn't done anything to fix it because they are apparently too busy shilling Robot Ass DLC.

If they're aware of it and it's affecting a lot of people, I'm sure they'll look into it. Like I said, it may not be something on their end, which would suck, but then you're just out of luck.

Don't be so quick about calling them out for doing nothing. You don't know that. Also, robot bottom lives matter too.

I'm just saying you might have to have a little patience and see if they'll come up with a fix.

A little patience.. It's been two weeks since launch, and they've had radio silence on a fairly massive part of the game not working for people. They haven't addressed when it will be fixed, if it can be fixed, or literally anything other than "we know it's happening". Two weeks is a long time for such a crippling bug to go unfixed. And I'm starting to regret buying not one, but two copies of this broken crap.

Two weeks is really not a long time in game development.

Two weeks of unplayable online is quite a significant portion of time for a AAA 60 dollar fighting game. Especially when the team is not communicating anything in regards to fixing matchmaking.

i've been having the same issue with specific friends - blackscreen in lobbies - but not all friends. sometimes it works against some folks.

Other lobbies work, ranked works. Just wait for a patch, 2 weeks is not a long time in game development like that guy said. Is this your first time buying a video game and encountering a situation like this?

I'm not a guy, but thanks for agreeing. ;)

Of course it's not my first time buying a game and encountering a problem. But why on earth would I sit around quietly about it instead of make noise about it until it gets fixed? Your post makes no sense.

I am convinced that it is almost certainly something on their end. My brother and I were able to play without issues from release day until about a week and a half ago (like you). Over the last week and a half, we have tried everything:

Validating game files
Power cycling network equipment
Port forwarding the suggested ports
Disabling firewalls
Disabling antivirus software
Flushing the DNS cache and releasing/renewing the IP configuration
Uninstalling the game, clearing broken registry entries that were associated to the game, and reinstalling the game
Temporarily deleting save data and disabling Steam cloud (in case it was some kind of corrupted profile data issue)
Attempting to play online on the same internet connection (to rule out an issue with compatibility between our internet connections of some kind, although we host servers on both of our internet connections for the other to join for a myriad of other games without any issues...we don't live in the same house anymore)

It has not worked once in the last week and a half. It worked without fail every single time before that. With this list, I think we have exhausted nearly every testable client side issue.

It's still broken for us too. At this poin't I've given up on it being fixed and just moved on knowing I've wasted 100 dollars on a game I can't even play. I won't be buying any more games from BandaiNamco for a long time.

Here's hoping that the November 16th update has some ninja master server/matchmaking fix that inexplicably solves all of the issues that everyone's having...but I doubt it. I'm with you. My level of disappointment only equals my level of excitement when I found out that SoulCalibur was making a return with a reboot and on PC no less :|
Dek Nov 16, 2018 @ 5:52am
Yeah for the record this new update didnt fix a damn thing. It's still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken. Thanks BandaiNamco.

Plz fix this bug
Mark Nov 19, 2018 @ 3:20pm
I've not seen a Bandai Namco rep on these forums (or any other) yet, so I assume that they don't check it. Since the issue has no signs of being resolved, I suggest that everyone email support describing the issue in order to increase the odds of it being seen and addressed. The support email address is support@bandainamcoent.com.
