Siegfried is a Problem

I know this will probably get lobbed in with the other "anything besides what I'm playing is OP" people, but I think I'm justified in saying this. There are some legitimately tough characters to play with or against. I'm even willing to overlook the atrocity that is Groh.

But all I've seen is a almost zero downside to playing Siegfried. He has stellar defense, amazing range, relatively high damage, and such a wealth of attacks there is almost nowhere you're safe. he'll pound you in the air, on the ground, from behind him or his side, you name it. Apart from all this, if you do manage to give him a licking, the last half of his health bar is double defense, so he has approximately 40-50% more health than anyone else.

I know all of these characters have the potential to be stupid op if you're good enough, but Siegfried just seems to have little to no downside to his attacks. high power, any range, and he's not even slow.

No downside? You can break him pathetically easily. Characters like Ivy eat him for breakfast in ranged situations. He's also much slower than Groh, Talim, Taki, and Voldo. His vertical attacks are especially slow, and in contrast he's weaker and slower than Nightmare it. This soul calibur has been made to be extremely unsafe and punishable. If you're standing there guarding and letting someone whack away on you, then you're playing the game wrong. This title added so many methods of counters and punishers that if you just stand there acting like a turtle, you're gonna get stompted. Go into practice, learn how to break him, make use of reversal edge, and especially guard impact. Yes, there's some balance changes that need to happen. No, Siegfried is not at the top of the list of needing nerfed.

He doesn't have a lot of attacks where he's safe. Learn to punish him.

pathetically easily? yeah definitely not. grabs are easy to dismiss, pretty much every unblockable except Geralts is easily sidestepped or interrupted, because his attacks are fast enough that even Taki's Excorcism is easily interrupted. and when it comes to reversal edges, sure you might get a hit, but that's a literal roll of the dice. in addition, in the case of taki again, many reversal edges are stupidly easy to sidestep or too short range and a simple backstep is more than enough to eliminate the threat, and due to Siegfrieds massive range, you're left open to a plethora of combos.

I'm guessing you're probably a siegfried main Zachillios.

Yeah I've certainly got an internal list of characters I sigh at when their names pop up in a duel :P

No, I play Ivy and Xianghua. I just have the clarity and maturity not to whine about whatever character kills me in Ranked that day.

Sieg is alright. I suggest you pick him up yourself and go through his movelist in traning mode, there's a couple things about him that look incredibly oppressive but in reality are fairly easy to beat. I can't really play him, but attempting to learn him brings some insight on how to deal with him early on in the learning process.

Not fighting games, no. Completely dfiferent beast. Way more depth overall.
