Why the hell can't the devs even pronounce Grøh correctly?
If you are absolutely gonna use ø in his name, at least get the announcer to pronounce it correctly. It really bugs me...

I haven't heard a single person pronounce his name correctly yet, everyone just says "Groh".

Stupid rant, I know.

As a Slav, I don't like how a lot of people butcher Geralt's name. And I give up on that a lot of people don't know that novels was written before games.

They might as well just have called him Groh then, if they don't even bother to pronounce it like it's written. The fact that they use ø, and decide to just say o instead, is so incredible stupid to me.

Well, many names are pronounced differently in different languages, but the fact they use a native letter like ø, and completely ignore how it's pronounced, is what really bothers me.

And so can you tell us how is originally pronounced Groh and Geralt?

All of the character name pronounciations are in english.
Just because you're lazy doesn't mean everyone else should be too.

Well. Explaining the ø sound is a bit difficult, as no english words has the sound. The closest I can get would be "Erh", but without really making the r sound, if that makes sense.

The ø is kind of like oe.
If you know what ö sounds like that's the same almost.
There's no direct sound for it in english.

I'm being lazy? Wouldn't that be the devs for using ø and not bother to pronounce it correctly? I fail to see how I am the lazy one here. They decided to use ø to potray him as this Nordic character, but then proceeds to pronounce his name incorrectly. That is stupid and lazy to me.

"If you're not going to do everything perfectly then don't do anything right."
That's lazy and stupid.
Making the pronounciations in only english is a design choice.
Spelling grøh as groh just because you're not pronouncing it in the original language is lazy.

His name is Grøh not Groh.

Try Grøh in Norwaigian and Geralt in Polish in Google Translate. It shows actually quite close pronunciation.

I dunno... this topic seems kinda racist. I don't know if it's appropriate to get mad at Japanese people simply because the way they pronounce words is different from your own.

Instead of saying "the devs are wong, why the hell can't they pronounce Grøh correctly", maybe you could say "wow, that is a very interesting cultural interpretation of the word Grøh! It is different from my own, yet this difference does not diminish it's validity. I will accept their lived experience, and I will learn from the new perspective they are offering to me"

Use this as an opportunity to... grøw... as a person!

It's pronounced "Grow" and "Gary" because MERICA.
