I often get him to a point where he is almost beaten but then I just do almost no damage even with heavy hits and he just oneshots me, thats realy frustrating.
Cannot say I experienced that, unless each Ancient is different, I fought the Longsword(Geralt) Ancient. I did notice his damage was considerably higher and he fought like a master of the style which made sense.
I honestly didn't feel it was too bad, using Geralt's Style for my entire playthrough I learned pretty well where and when to attack after a combo ended. You must have used the style of the Ancient for awhile since you need to "master" it to get the quest. Use that knowledge to your advantage, remember the times you got punished, and do the same to him.
Honestly though if you are not doing it for the achievement a lvl 60 weapon at lvl 80 seems pointless.
I've destroyed countless fissure critters that way, and Perfect'd Inferno.
Soo testet it several times now, I was fighting the one with Siegfrieds style, if his HP is Low he gets a High Damage and Defense Buff, if he gets you in a Combo at this point the fight is over because of his insane damage output, while every attack from you that is not a heavy hit will almost do no damage.
Thx for the Tip, it worked wonders, got the Achivement now and the Weapon. =)
