Can't get Maxi's critical edge to work

Every other character just needs you to land a hit. Why does Maxi's critical edge not trigger?

I use it constantly (my main CaC is a Soul of Maxi)

No, but I think I may have figured it out. using it when you're right up close to an opponent seems to stop it working - I guess you hit it with the chains instead of the nunchaku

If you hold down the critical edge button he'll cancel the CE, even on hit. It causes them to bounce.

To prevent this, tap the critical edge button. Don't hold it.

Had the same issue, that's why I've landed here and Uyu's advice worked well. I havent' trained properly with Maxi yet, that's why I was unsure of the inputs (and the in-game menus give me a headache)

Uyu's advice worked well for people that held down the critical edge button. I did not hold down the critical edge button. Also nice necro.

Like some have said already, holding the CE button will cause Maxi to cancel the full special. However it will set you up to do pretty decent damage combos from his special stance.. I think you can even get ring outs from it.

Simply not pressing and releasing the CE button fast enough will still count that input as a held button. The game is funny like that, sometimes you'll try to side step after guarding and you jump instead- same concept. The only way you don't get maxi's CE after it lands is if the game registered the CE input as a held button.

On a side note.. it's not wise to ask for advice and then insult the people giving it to you. It's very easy to misunderstand what people mean and are trying to say via text in a forum setting like this.
