Is there a tutorial?

there is a small tutorial in the game, tho it doesnt help you learn characters or fighting styles. It is in the create a character story mode the yellow circle.......I dont know if there is a tutorial in the main story

Yes. The game tells you about the tutorial and where to find it the first time you launch it. (It's those screens with text that came up in your face that I'm guessing you mashed the button through.)

They came up before you could even do anything in the main menu. You literally had to skip them to access the main menu.

Most of the players I meet online have not played tutorial. I can tell because they are not using any of the defensive techniques taught there. Like, I can spam vertical attacks because no one learned from tutorial that you can sidestep em. Or that you can parry. Or how the rock, paper, scissors clash works.

In training mode, there is also a menu with information that talks about the basic mechanics of each character. Doesn't walk you through it, but you can still read up on it.
