SoulCalibur - Best casual fighting on weapons with deep customization
different games, so I love them both
But tekken does have story, arcade and treasure battle modes. You can dress up the characters a lot in there, you just can't make a skeleton dude and change his voice to alien. Seeing all those weirdoes online yesterday made me want to turn off customization, ugh.
Why I'll be staying with Tekken after trying out Soul Calibur: (don't get me wrong, it's a good game, but I like tekken more now)
It uses almost twice as many buttons, with dedicated block, grab and clash, where Tekken uses just 4 and all the commands flow from the combination of those 2 hands and 2 legs. Because of that I don't know how I am going to present it to my friend, who is not a hardcore gamer. Half the attacks are half the screen long, which I certainly don't like. Then I was never a fan of some arbitrary meter that tells you 'na-uh, you can't use your magic now, wait til you get beaten up'
Then, like a quarter of custom characters I played online yesterday made me clench teeth. They were either nearly naked girls, or guys straight from the weird side of the internet, to put it lightly.
Lastly, I know that it can be attributed to lack of experience, but in Tekken I always see that I could have blocked the attacks like this-and-that, or sidestep in the case it's unblockable. In SC6, I find myself asking 'what the hell?' on a lot of attacks.
And Tekken nearly never lagged or stuttered on me online, SC on the other hand - did.
+Guard impact, works well in online for button smashers
+Much shorter juggles than in Tekken, I don't feel hopeless half of the match
+Weapons, 90% of moves are realistic or at least make somekind of sense
+Better customization, I like Cervantes fighting style but hate how he looks so I can make Dante from Devil May Cry, or He-Man, or what ever
In other words
No need to study about this game deeply.
Recommend for Light Gamers
False, This post is the epitome of a casual perspective that doesnt actually know much about the game. Soul calibur fights are actually over much faster, a character like nightmare can destroy you in a few seconds and then there are the ring outs.
The true answer is this.
Tekken if you want a game with an almost infinite ceiling for improvement and extreme technicallity with ♥♥♥♥ loads to learn. (ive been playing it for 20 years at this point.)
Soul calibur is a better option if you prefer a less combo based combat system thats easy to pick up with little in terms of execution requirements. Also much better single player content and customisations.
Both games are great and I love both, but as a competitive player tekken is the better choice.
but soul calibur is a more fun game.
SC6= "Learn this combo, set it to macro, then go online and beat people"
SC6 is much more casual than T7. for some it's a dumb down for wider audience.
