No LOW "Guard Impact" (repel)
Correct me if I'm wrong (...and PLEASE correct me, because I hope I'm wrong!), but there are no LOW guard impacts in this game -- as have been staple for the series...??

Why the heck was this removed?! I mean, the one shining, laudable aspect of the Soul Calibur series was its defensive mechanics, which raised the game's head above the mashed potato fiesta it can otherwise devolve into...

This design decision will not bode well, not only for online longevity of the game (scrubs are gonna scrub, and with lag as their ally, scrubs are the online kings), nor for its pro circuit appeal. I've watched some preliminary tourneys and noticed the propensity for players to fall for 'Cobra Kai' exploits, but figured it was their lack of practice with the new game (there weren't many GI's used, period). But having fooled around with the game for an hour or so myself, I'm now seeing where the problem lies... and I don't think its with the players [only] -_-

GI impacts low, mid, high and throws.

It's a single GI for everything.

It loses to break attacks and unblockables, if you wiff with it it damages your guard gauge and leaves you very open to getting wiffed punished.

So you can't just spam them.

LOL... Well, if I had to choose between no guard impacts or universal guard impacts, I'd take the latter. You know, being 'stabbed' over being 'shot' ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Spamming GIs has never been an issue in SC... nor in any game with a similar mechanic, for that matter. It's the lack of a robust defensive system that leads to most games' downfall...

Ok, sounds better.

That's not "being fair" -- it's being overly apologetic and sanguine... and a statement that would only hold even remotely true at high levels of play.
>implying that low and intermediate players can and will punish every missed GI

To be fair punishing a random GI will always be harder then baiting one and punishing, and baiting them is what I seem to see a lot off.

Sometimes they're just trying to bait in general (trying to SS or duck something) but they're still mentally prepared to react.
Well least it's still there. It sucks to hear but it's a new Soul Calibur, and honestly everything now a days is easy. New school kids are the demographic and most don'tl ike hard, or anything challenging at all. Need ez mode.

You know you'd still whoop their ass
