Trick SC6 into thinking my mechanical keyboard is a PS4 controller
Hello -

I want to play Soul Calibur 6 on PC using just a keyboard.

The problem is, the in game key binding configuration won't allow for mapping of diagonal movement inputs (8 way run) on keyboard. It only allows you to map up, down, right, left to keyboard but not down-left, down-right, up-left, up-right. Simultaneous key pressing to perform these movements as a work around is cumbersome especially in terms of performing complex moves (slide inputs) or command grabs that require CRISP diagonal inputs.

What I want to know is if there is a way to trick the game into thinking my mechanical keyboard that I would use to play is a PS4 controller so I can map the Dpad diagonals to the NUMPAD & map the regular analog movements of the controller onto my keyboard as well.

Currently, I have been successful in using MaxShooterOne (a converter that allows you to use a keyboard on PS4) to that end but PS4 net code is horrible & causes a lot of lag & frustration while playing online via the PS4 network. PC is the best platform to eliminate this, hence why I want to start playing the game on PC.

Help!

I just hate controller so much primarily because I can only do Ivy's command grabs with a less than 40% proficiency. Whereas, on a keyboard, I nail them 100% of the time with ease & have a much better time with timing them (which is a HUGE advantage most Ivy's dont even know about)

obviously you cannot do these moves with ease, as you're asking how to rebind your keyboard to make it easier, lol

still, a quick google search turned up this: https://sourceforge.net/projects/vjoystick/

from the program features, this should do exactly the thing you want done.

My girlfriend just rebound the keaboard and then tried to get used to seeing the keyboard tooltip
she still wrecks me hard in this game
So, just rebind

Keyboard is actually the best input device for fighting games, hence the reason rebranded keyboards aka "hitbox controllers" sell for $100+.

I suspect the SC6 team realized this and made the keyboard by default suffer arbitrary limitations like not being able to bind the space bar.

im going to cite sirlin again, from "introducing the scrub,"

The scrub has still more crutches. He talks a great deal about “skill” and how he has skill whereas other players—very much including the ones who beat him flat out—do not have skill. The confusion here is what “skill” actually is.
