Special Scenario games won't let us build on islands

I used some scrolls to try out the special scenario games, read all the rules, played the game and it would not allow us to place a knight or a house on an island. Playing in single player mode. It allows the computer AI's to do this, just not us. I watched the computer AI play, and made the same moves, and yet it worked for them and not for us. Feels like this must be a bug. Unless I'm seriously misunderstanding the rules to the game.

which scenario are you talking about? great canal or enchantes land?

I had trouble in both. It allowed me to build a house, but not a soldier on an island in the enchanted land. And of course you need a soldier there to fight the dragon. It would not allow me to build a house or a solider on an island in the great canal. I was able to build both a soldier and house on the main land in both scenarios.

I had the same issue and gave up.

You have to build your knights on the main island and then move them to the dragon island when playing enchanted.

In "Great canal" it is not allowed to build settlements on the islands (not for men or AI).
You have to build knights on main island and move them to the isles. If they are at harbour, you can trade. If they are at gold river, you get gold when "8" comes, but when the canal is ready, nevermore. But: The knights on the isles don´t fight against barbarians!
