It's just lost revenue for them, not having a way to gift the game is a failure of business 101 and continues the tradition of digital Catan failures. The good news is there are some fantastic digital board games on the horizon in the near future that don't involve gold and gems.

Through the Ages tutorial takes a humorous jab at in-game currency giving a nod to serious digital board game lovers.

I think Stroom gave you the most likely answer. There is no mechanism in place to buy the game twice and give one away.

Since we did go the way of in app purchases (Catan Gold), gifting them is prohibited by the stores. Therefore you can´t gift it to your friend unfortunately. Why did we do that?

By using only consumable in game purchases (Catan Gold) we are able to empower our users to use his/her content on every platform we released the game on. Pay once, play the App and on your PC. That’s the bargain we offer. What we lost by doing that is the ability for people to gift the game. But we strongly believe that this is still the better bargain for the user.

Thank you for the response. I love the fact that i can play the game on mobile, web, steam, w.e. without having to buy it multiple times. It's a huge plus. Having said that however, it doesn't quite make sense to me that you'd lose the ability to gift the game to others as a result. These two are seperate to me and since as you said; you're buying it on a catan universe account with catan gold that you got after trading in from your steam wallet. If you know someone's catan universe account name, you should be allowed/able to gift the game to them. Please consider adding this feature. It shouldn't be one or the other choice when to me it should be simple to have both options.

You offer a good bragain with play on any device but you're limiting yourself by not letting us buy/gift the game to friends. Not asking for my friend to be able to play the game i bought, i'm asking to be able to spend my catan gold to buy the game again for someone else so that they can enjoy the game too.
