Question about playing CU with friends

I have a few questions regarding playing with my friends:

If I purchase the base set, can I just use custom game to invite my friends over and they don't need to pay for the base set, or all of us need to purchase the base set?

The same applied for expansion, do all of us need to buy the expansions or just one will suffice?

All of you have to buy it. You can use scrolls but I have heard that there can be problems when you play a game using a scroll. Maybe wait a few years until they fix their issues before putting any money into this.

If you want to play custom games all you friends have to have unlocked the expansion you want to play. You friends can do so by spending gold or using scrolls. Scrolls will allow them to play the expansion for 24h. If the unlock with gold they will have unlimited access.
