You'll unlock the Colonial Achievements by just playing the campaign.
For the Cylon ones, you have to play them in Skirmish or Multiplayer.
The game has 26 achievements. Out of these, you complete 14 by campaign progression of the main campaign.
3 by unlocking tech, one of which requiring you to unlock all techs in the campaign, so you need to pay attention to that.
1 requires you to have 10 fortified colonies, which means the colonies has a fleet with an officer above.
And then, there is the 3 destroy x enemy ships achievements that ends with this:
Grab Your Gun And Bring in The Cat
Destroy 500 enemy ships
So it is important that you don't just rush trough the campaign, but go for
If you just want to have all skirmish achievements, you can just do all of them in 2 games if you don't care about skirmish at all.
1st game:
1 Colonial Achievement:
So Say We All
Win a skirmish or multiplayer match with a custom Colonial fleet
2nd game:
4 Cylon achievements:
Distribution of Power
Redistribute power in a Cylon ship
Technological Superiority
Successfully hack an opponent's ship with the Nemesis or the Wardriver
Throw Them Out The Airlock
Successfully board an opponent's ship with a Heavy Raider
By Your Command
Win a skirmish or multiplayer match with a custom Cylon fleet
Just make a custom colonial fleet with a single manticore and a custom cylon fleet with a single cerberus. Put a heavy raider and a wardriver into the cerberus.
At the begining of the game, redistribute the power to the armory and navigation (if you click the small box next to the subsystem, you will lock down it's current power distribution in order to not drain it as well to max out an another.) and start turning. Launch your birds in the second turn, and in the third turn, order the wardriver to hack the manticore's armory while ordering the heavy raider to board the ship.
With the Armory being hacked, the marines inside won't be able to defend much against the boarding and you will basically disable the ship in no time, all you need to do is casually finish it.
