Battlestar Galactical Deadlock does not work with gamepad.
Ive been trying to play this game for a while, but it refuses to detect my gamepad.

Im using a original XBOX one gamepad with a windows-certified wireless dongle that works with every other game i have ever tried (that actually do support gamepads).

The game allows me to change from keyboard/mouse to gamepad, but after the change, NO input is accepted by the game.

I do have a 3d-mouse (USB) connected to the computer that MAY be related to the issue, but i am NOT disconnecting my work-hardware just so developers can be sloppy..

Considering the age of this game, and its current state, i must say that i am VERY happy that i didnt actually invest money in this product..
And even if its free, i think i´ll "demand refund" just to make a point...

Have you joined the discord server? As someone on the server has the exact same issue and is getting support from the head of studio to fix it.

if anyone got any hints regarding this issue, please feel free to share :)
I did not get any help on discord and im not prone to share my email (hence no support)..
"Battlestar Galactical Deadlock does not work with gamepad."

FFS why would you?!?!? Even drunk and when my mouse was still an old one with 2 buttons AND the ball instead of laser i would NOT use a controller for an RTS/TTBS. I rather die.

Also simple why it doesnt work: ITS NOT SUPPOSED TO! No Controller support = NO CONTROLLER SUPPORT!

There is a "partial gamepad support"-badge on the game store page.

FFS why would you care what i play with??!?
Even when im drunk i dont care what other players are using, so why would i care now?
So why should you?
If you fancy ball-mice, whatever rocks your boat, im not judging.
Im simply not interested and i fail to see how your gamepadfobic rant actually adds anything of value to the discussion.

It does feel quite alarming that you would rather die than to play videogames with anything other than your usual tools, perhaps you should bring this up with a trusted friend or a professional?

For the record; i ONLY play games with gamepad.
No gamepad-support = no interest.
If i can play it with gamepad, then great, i can live with some awkward controller mappings for the pure creature comforts of laying on my recliner.

Also, do your background checks BEFORE trying to be rude in a public forum. :)

Just use Joy2Key or Xpadder?

Also, your OP is pretty rude; so I'm not sure why you were surprised when someone was rude back.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Really rude guy w/ a 1st world problem wonders why no one likes him or is willing to help him.

Remains one of the great mysteries of our time why this happened.

Have you tried disabling Steams controller input?

So you got the game for free, not willing to pull plug of your precious 'work hardware', not even for test, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about lack of support for your controller and 'windows-certified wireless dongle ' in game that does not fully support controllers.
Are you OK?

Assuming you have made sure you have the appropriate drivers installed and that your pad is detected and configured properly on your PC, you can set your controller up for PC games through Steam. If you switch steam to Big Picture mode and navigate to BSG:D, you can choose/download a profile or set one up yourself.

You should get used to doing this if you want to play any PC game you like using your controller, even ones that have no or partial controller support. Luckily if you are patient enough to really enjoy Deadlock, you are probably going to be fine setting this up.
I tried playing with a controller and believe me, you don't even want to bother. I tried it for about 1 minute and went back to keyboard and mouse. And I use controllers on every game I can.

Thanks, then its apparently not worth the effort to even try to get it to work with gamepads..
I used to play only with keyboard/mouse, or just keyboard before there was a mouse input in games, but i really cant be bothered to sit at a desk for hours on end anymore, especially since the introduction of gamepads and other input devices.

I am a bit of a nerd in terms of computers in general, and having tech-support background i can totally understand where you´re coming from. :)
All the drivers are up to date, and its a genuine microsoft gamepad and dongle, so the drivers are pretty much automagic thanks to microsoft.
I have manually reinstalled them with the device manager, but things stay the same.
I also had configured both of my controllers with the Steam BigPicture, probably from the day i got them. :)

My setup works just great everywhere else i try, except for the odd game that simply fail to find my gamepad, but only on my "work"-computer, where i have my 3dmouse.
My sons computer has pretty much the same setup (also gamepad-only, but connected to the TV) and usually do not have issues with these odd games that fail to find my gamepad.
I must say that these "odd games" are more frequent on epic, but most games work fine there too, using the same steam gamepad profiles.

I would guess that my actual issue (except rude replies ;) ) is that the game tries to grab the first USB-HID-device that isnt keyboard or mouse, so my 3dconnexion 3dmouse is probably first in the list..

My 3dmouse does not list as a gaming device, nor does it use those HID-profiles, so i would think that the developers behind those odd games "cheated" a bit, not reading the HID-profiles at all, just grabbing _any_ HID-device, regardless of its advertised capabilities

This game did look really promising as im a avid scifi-nerd and loved the tv show. :)
So wont be returning the free game as the angrier, younger me suggested, instead i´ll keep it just to be able to check in on its progress.
But i wont be holding my breath for a fix, if my guess is correct, then its such a edge-case scenario that its not really worth the dev time to correct it.

Are you OK?

You find a random support-thread that you sarcastically summarize with lengthy and colorful language, then ask if the original poster is ok?
oh man, the irony....
