IP Holder doesn't want them.
In the eula, there is a paragraph prohibiting "reverse engineering" of the game, which is basically required for modding since there are no official mod tools.
Well, one can only hope they will eventually forget about this game and some folks decides to pick it up and mod the hell out of it, I played this game for 3 years before it got this free deal so I'm full of ideas how to overhaul the gameplay for both sides.
Game is fun as it is but mods makes any game live a lot longer and have a lot more potential than it's default state, Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 are a true concrete proofs of this....the only down side is that would could get anime painted Battlestars camoflages but it will be a small price to pay xD
Thanks for your attention and clarefying this mate, have a great one! o/
BRO...
CONSTITUTION CLASS WITH PHOTONIC FLAK FIELD * - *
Jokes aside, yeah, would be fun to put Star Trek ships against cylons...specially if there was the original basestars (1978) to play with, those beasts were full of laser cannons
I've looked for evidence of this but i can't find anything. Source?

Look to the bottom of the thread.
I can't remember the correct name but there was a game, Nexus - The Jupter Something, a guy was making a BSG simulator, you could control Galactica, Pegasus and the Baseships, it was a reallistic and quite frankly, the best Galactica experience to date, Deadlock and Galactica Online can't even dream to get to that level of good experience.
Universal sued the man(for no good reason) and that was the end of it, so I don't doubt that is a thing.
All I'll ever say about modding Deadlock is this: The main game isn't that much great, it's fun if you learn how to like it, but in on itself it isn't good enough, plust the campaing is fillied with gameplay flaws and the last armistice battle lacked. The only true great campaing experience I had was the Tripartite battle when u control a cylon fleet against a massive enemy fleet. The game would only benefit with a few tweaks and overhauls and it would be THE BEST space strategy game, beating by Astronomical Units Battlefleet Gothic Armada, but no, let's just pretend space is a vertical board and just deal with it.
I really wished Deadlock would be a 3d, free-moving open space game, but no, it's yet another board game in space.
F__k board games.
On the contrary, I like BSGD for exactly that reason, I have plenty of other great options if I want to play 3D, free-moving open space games; this one is enjoyable and different specifically because it is essentially a virtual boardgame.
You are not wrong but you are not correct either, it's a fake 3d since you cannot roll your ship it's a board game like Battlefleet Gothic Armada 1 and 2 wich is only 2 dimensions in the end of the day, even if you can go up and down in Deadlock.
None of these 3 games are bad, don't get me wrong, they are very fun to play and very well though. The thing is I just wanted another Star Trek Bridge Commander game where you actually control ships in an actual 3d space with full control of maneuvers and no limitations like "Hey, u can't go here and you also can't do that. Because rEaSoNs" wich in turn allow more options and more stuff that can happen, having a game with controls like Bridge Commander, with the gameplay mechanics of Battlefleet Gothic and with the fighter combat from Deadlock would be the Definitive Space Game, if done right that is.
You have your opinion and I respect it, I don't disagree with you over on what you like, but objectively speaking it doens't add anything good or great to the game, it only limits the possibilities of what you and the enemy can do. For examply in Multiplayer if you win the fighter battle and go below most ships(other than the Mercury) you will blow them up, where in Bridge Commander you would simply roll your ship and be able to defend agast that, just like what Galactica actually does in the series.
Like I said to Jimbob, if we had all the mecanics of these 3 games together, along with the Timer mechanic from Deadlock and other things from it, it would had been the most complete space strategy game out there.
Idk what's about strategy games that they always leave something out, intentionally, they always make the game lack something for no good reason other than to make a boardgame instead of a 3d free roam game like Bridge Commander. Having a game with those free roam mechanics would be really interesting and far more deeper than what we have nowadays...and whey they manage to do that, they fill with so many things to do at the same time that you don't actually play it, more like work in it.
In the end of the day, Mods would fix these things, making a bunch of optional stuff available, but no. Again: Because rEaSoNs
F
Or Stargate Mod, that would be also cool :).
Goauld Hatak vs Colonial Battlestar
or
Borg Cube vs Cylon Basestar
<3
One day this will be abandonware and we can only hope that Universal Studios gets sold or close down for good and people just forget about this IP, maybe then we can start having some real fun with Galactica games.
