I tend to go for CIC because of something i read but i thought maybe the Hanger type to make fighters stronger might be good too?
Haven't figured out yet where to plug in the Janus.
At the moment, stuck at the nuclear kamikaze run; it's too crowded. I think if I can get the civilian transport there more or less in tact, while hanging back with the task group. Or reconfigure it to two Artemis and one Andamant.
I've found that the best place to deploy the Janus is just above and behind your main battlestar line so they can be protected by flak but in a position to where you can fire offensive and defensive weapons while also using the Janus' heavy turrets. Of course, be sure battlestar flak does not interfere with the Janus' launching weapons, so you can't hover them too low. Keep them just high enough to be useful, while also keeping them at a height where flak will not interfere with operations.
The CIC buff, I suspect, is far superior - -because it enables one Cylon ship deletion per turn at the critical "gun battle" stage of engagement.
It's possible to beat Cylon six kay plus fleets, but's becoming a slog
Time to push fleet size to five kay.
While four Vipers feels a little short, maximum twenty two missile salvoes in seven rounds is quite an equalizer.
For 5,000pt fleets; that basically is a Jupiter II + 3 x Adamanats.
For Season one. . . .5000 pts is more awkward; my favored fleet is 2 x Arti; 1 Adamant, 1 Beserk, 1 Manticore. An Artie; Minatour plus 3 adamants also has it's charms.
Pretty much looks like there's little point in restraint.
Near the end, you just about have to push your fleet points to maximum, particularly when playing at higher difficulty levels. Even on "Lieutenant," I found that 6,000 to 8,000 fleets would be required - or a heavy use of Jupiter battlestars, nukes and torpedoes. I tried that first.
Missions that screw with Cylon manufacturing seem to lower their fleet size(s).
Don't go after the Cylons. Make them come to you so you can take them out one at a time. That tactic is a key to survival when you are out-numbered, out-gunned, out-missiled or out-Raidered.
