buy minotaur gunship blueprints or hold off for the artemis battlestar blueprints?
I've got a ways to go in RP to buy either blueprints, but just wondering if I should skip the minotaur and buy the battlestar blueprints.

Cylon basestars have started showing up so I'm getting worried that I am falling behind in my tech tree, since I don't have a basestar build capability.

i would wait for the artimis, especially if you have the berserk

Get the Artemis. It didnt take long for the Minotaur to come along anyways for me.
The Artemis should be unlocked the moment you finish chapter 5, followed by Mk 2 Vipers.
If you are already seeing basestars, you might have progressed too quickly. Good tip is too hold off on story missions until you have 3-4 strong fleets and have unlocked the Battlestar already

OK thx I overlooked the artemis as a blueprint and have played several story missions past chapter 5. I'll hold off on story missions and do side missions to earn RP.

Is it okay to play the DLC missions as well?

once i get the artemis i stop building anything but battlestars. They are way better than basically everything else

Which is why they became the Colonial Fleet mainstays.

I kinda like the Minotaur though as I have a soft spot for gunships.
Handy to have as a support, especially against lesser target as they chew them.

The Minotaur are good gunships but if i had to pick between it and a battlestar i take the Battlestar, besides the vipers there the Missles or nuke you can put on them which makes them more useful. But if you can get a Minotaur with a Battlestar stack together or close to each other they can and will chew up cylon ships

Of course, they can't compete with a battlestar and would get chewed by missiles. But minotaurs with Battlestars is a good team , with the minotaur covered by the flak field.

I'm using fleet setups currently of 2 Artemis + 2 Rangers, + 3 Minotaurs. This gives me 7900/8000 fleet cap. Pretty cool for auto-resolve, but I find the Minotaurs to be quite underwhelming in such a setup when playing out the battle manually.

Majority of the damage comes from the Artemis and the torpedoes on my Rangers. For example in an average battle I see damage numbers of ~300 for the Artemis, ~200 for the Rangers, and ~100 or less for the Minotaurs.

I feel like I could keep the 2 Artemis + 2 Rangers set up and replace the Minotaurs with something else that can bring more than just guns to a battle. I mean they never get targeted by the AI, so their high HP doesn't help in the battle either. I almost want to try a fall back to Adamants for the added Fighter slots and more torpedoes (can never have enough torps!). That, or more battlestars.

A few builds you could try that take out the Mino’s and replace them with more ordnance heavy ships:

7,750 fleet points: 2 Artemis, 3 Ranger, 2 Adamant

7,800 fleet points: 3 Artemis, 3 Ranger

8,000 fleet points: 2 Artemis, 2 Ranger, 2 Janus, 1 Minotaur

7,950 fleet points: 2 Artemis, 4 Ranger, 1 Berzerk

8,000 fleet points: 2 Artemis, 2 Ranger, 1 Janus, 1 Minerva

Base template I used for calculating all that is 2 Artemis, 2 Ranger equals 5,200 fleet points.
