Mercury is underwhelming
Mercury is underwhelming. I don't like the turret placements of the Mercury. In the show it packs a punch from the broadsides and the front side, but in the game its weapons are too focused on the front and its weak on the broadside. As for fighters, it should be better than Jupiter not the same ( since there are 4 flight decks it should carry more than 2 squadrons ). And its flak field is also smaller than Jupiter. This is why Mercury is a bit of a disappointment for me. I think it needs changed.

Okay...

So the mercury, if above the target and bow on, has 18 battlestar artillery, at 110% of normal accuracy. Once it goes to +4 atk, that accuracy is 126%. It has the highest DPS output in the game, and to give you further incentive to use it in that manner, it’s bow armour is the best in the game.

On its broadside, if above the enemy, it has 12 PDCs and 8 BA. Which is the 2nd highest theoretical broadside DPS and the highest practical DPS (Jupiter Mk2 wins theoretical with 16 BA + 8 PDCs). Below the enemy it’s 12 PDCs and 2 BA, but it’s still a hefty punch for saying it’ll only be in that situation if somethings gone horribly wrong.

So, now on to the squadron power. The mercury can carry 3 squads of mk7 vipers. A mk7 squad is valued at roughly 1.7-1.8 Mk2s. That means the mercury carries the equivalent of 5.1 to 5.4 squads of Mk2 vipers in its airwing. That’s almost 3 times the air power of the Jupiter. It’s almost equal to the cost efficiency of the Atlas in terms of air power. Not to mention, given that the mk7 has the health to make retreat viable and the mercury has the highest fighter repair rate of any colonial ship...

The mercury is one of the best performing colonial ships. While it has its counters, namely valkyries and other class 3 gun focused vessels, its heavy fighter power and “I look at you and you die” bow arsenal, along with the fact that it is also the best tank in the colonial fleet... saying it’s underwhelming raises a lot of questions.

Riekopo shows up spamming the forum w/ some hot takes, and judging from the style of the one liner reviews he writes it's SOP.

My guess is in his mind he's convinced his opinions are facts.

My only gripe with the Mercury is that it should be bigger. Around 1.5 times the size of the Jupiter Mk II. I know this means bigger hit boxes but I really do want The Beast to look its size.
